Straddle carriers are primarily used for container handling in port terminals and container yards. They are designed for stacking and transporting containers and can stack containers up to four layers high. Fully loaded, these carriers can reach speeds of up to 30 km/h. The operator’s cab is positioned at the top, providing clear visibility of both the front and rear operations.

Huayuan straddle carriers typically have a rated capacity of 35 t, with a maximum design capacity of 60 t (59 long tons; 66 short tons), equivalent to handling two fully loaded containers simultaneously.
