STS Crane

  • Introduction:

  1. The ship-to-shore gantry crane, also known as an STS or QC crane, consists of a steel structure, hoisting mechanism, luffing (pitching) mechanism, tilting mechanism, crane traveling mechanism, trolley traveling mechanism, machinery room, spreader, electrical equipment, and necessary safety devices and accessories.

  2. According to the trolley drive type, ship-to-shore gantry cranes can be classified into three categories: traction cranes, semi-traction cranes, and self-propelled cranes. Equipped with a PLC control system and a CMMS fault detection system, the crane enables automatic fault monitoring, detection, and diagnosis, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable operation.

  • Structure Advantages

  1. The STS crane is equipped with an advanced electrical control system that combines all-digital AC frequency conversion with PLC-based speed regulation. This enables flexible command and precise control of all mechanisms, ensuring every action is accurate and highly coordinated.

  2. The lifting mechanism delivers strong power to handle containers ranging from 35 to 65 tons, whether fully loaded or empty, guaranteeing smooth and safe lifting operations. The trolley traveling mechanism allows precise and free movement along the bridge, ensuring accurate horizontal transfer of containers between ship and terminal. The tilting mechanism adjusts the working angle to suit different operational scenarios and ship types, enhancing convenience and efficiency. Meanwhile, the gantry traveling mechanism ensures stable movement of the crane along quay rails, allowing forward and backward operations to meet diverse loading and unloading requirements.

  3. The trolley assembly, as a critical component for carrying and moving containers, works in perfect coordination with other systems. Safety devices such as the tilting and hanging cabin protection system act as “guardians,” quickly activating in unexpected situations to prevent damage to the equipment and ensure operational safety. Additionally, a series of auxiliary devices further enhance the crane’s functionality, operational convenience, and overall safety.
